Ready to design your dream garden? Here’s what you can expect from working with us.

  1. Initial meeting & Consultation.

After you get in touch, Kyla will arrange to visit your garden so that she can chat to you and learn about your tastes and preferences and any requirements you have for the garden. This gives her a chance to get to know you and to get a feel for the character of the site and the house - we believe gardens should always work in harmony with the buildings around them so that the design of the interior and exterior spaces echo one another. At this meeting Kyla will discuss budgets with you and afterwards send you her fee proposal.

2. Site Survey

Once a fee scale has been agreed, a detailed survey of the land is carried out, marking out any existing trees, levels changes, buildings and services. If the site is small and uncomplicated, Kyla will do this herself, or for larger sites we will use a trusted professional chartered surveyor.

3. Design Drawings

Kyla will use a combination of hand sketching and CAD (computer aided design) to draw up a design for your garden, including a detailed top view plan, 3D perspective drawings and a mood board of proposed materials and planting combinations. These are then presented to you for feedback and approval.

4. Planting Plan

Once you’re happy with the overall design, Kyla will create a detailed planting plan that shows the exact quantity, size and position of every plant and tree to be placed in your garden. This is later used to place orders with our trusted nurseries to ensure the correct size and number of plants are supplied.

5. Technical Drawings & Construction

Kyla will draw up construction diagrams, lighting and irrigation plans, and provide a document specifying materials and dimensions so that we can obtain quotes from different landscaping companies (or, if you have a landscaper that you prefer you to use, we are happy to liaise with them). Once the build starts we will monitor progress unless specified by you.

6. Planting & Lighting

When the hard landscaping is completed Kyla will begin planting. If the site is small enough she will do this alone or with an assistant, for larger sites she will employ a small planting team to help. Conduit for the lighting will have already been laid during the build, so lights are now able to be fitted. Carefully considered, subtle lighting can really bring a garden to life at night, and we are committed to being dark skies compliant so that wildlife is undisturbed.

7. Maintenance

Kyla will provide you with a clear & simple garden maintenance schedule that details how the garden is to be looked after. Though we do not provide ongoing garden maintenance services ourselves, we are happy to recommend companies that do. If you’d like to book Kyla for occasional follow-up visits she always loves to see how gardens are maturing.
